The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has followed the issuance of the presidential decree calling for simultaneous presidential and legislative elections in September 2027, based on a decision by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), following the cancellation of Decree No. (4) of 2026, which called for legislative elections on November 28, 2026. Therefore:
First: The movement reaffirms its fundamental and unwavering position on the necessity of rebuilding and reforming our national institutions, and of organizing our internal affairs through a democratic process, through free and fair elections, considering this a national priority for unifying the ranks of our people and protecting their national rights.
Second: The decision to postpone the elections to next year, in light of the lack of the necessary political, security, and field conditions for holding free and fair elections in all occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, is a step in the right direction that should lead to a comprehensive, serious, and productive national dialogue.
Third: We affirm our readiness to engage in a comprehensive dialogue to reach clear and binding results for all parties, including mechanisms for organizing the Palestinian house, particularly the National and Legislative Councils, and to agree on a comprehensive national strategy that includes a political program, the management of the transitional phase, and confronting the dangerous Zionist threats that target our national cause, and to save our people in all their places of residence, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is facing a war of extermination and displacement.
