Arcona 2.0
We are entering a new stage in the evolution of the project.
From the very beginning, Arcona was conceived as a geo‑anchored digital layer of the planet — the infrastructure of the spatial internet, not just another metaverse.
We spoke about merging VR and AR, about our own PC client and a location editor.
But along the way, we reached a different conclusion.
This editor already exists.
It is mature, powerful, and time‑tested.
It’s more than 15 years old.
And it has a community of people who know how to use it.
This is OpenSim and Hypergrid — a decentralized federation of independent worlds with no single owner and no central point of control.
Thousands of creators build complex environments here not for investment hype, but because this is their native medium.
Arcona 2.0 unites these two approaches.
OpenSim created a federation of worlds.
Arcona adds the missing dimension — the real coordinates of the planet.
⸻
What’s already done
We deployed our own OpenSim infrastructure and upgraded the software by adding:
• geo‑anchoring of spaces to real‑world coordinates
• publishing content into the Arcona AR layer
• synchronizing land rights through LandManager
⸻
What creators get
• their own OpenSim node for hosting and expanding their worlds
• Firestorm and the mature OpenSim tool ecosystem
• the ability to publish content simultaneously for Hypergrid avatars and for people standing at the corresponding points on the planet
• in the future — shared presence of virtual avatars and AR users in the same space
This is not just a set of tools.
This is a shift from “scene creation” to territory creation.
⸻
What we are building
• geo‑anchored Arcona spaces for OpenSim
• LandManager for automatic synchronization of land rights and spatial boundaries
• a unified protocol for interaction between virtual worlds and augmented reality
This is a step from platform to protocol.
From a centralized system to a network that lives on its own.
⸻
Why now
The idea of the spatial internet appeared long before the tools to build it.
Today, thanks to AI, the cost of developing complex distributed systems has dropped by an order of magnitude.
Technology has finally caught up with the idea.
⸻
Decentralization
Arcona Decentralization
Independent nodes.
User‑owned servers.
A blockchain registry of rights without a central operator.
This means one thing:
Even if we disappear — your land, your content, and your network will continue to live.
On your servers.
Without our involvement.
⸻
What’s next
First stage — the Ludza pilot and the launch of LandManager.
Next — an open protocol that any OpenSim node can connect to.
Final step — open‑sourcing the Metareality protocol.
Corporations build platforms.
Arcona builds the Metareality protocol.
