They say this is Gilgamesh. Obviously the mainstream isn't going to admit that this was his signature move back in the day. He's holding that lion like it's a cat.

One poor explanation I've heard is that he is actually holding a lion cub. Not a chance because the lion has a mane and the proportions are not cub-like.

The last-line-of-defense for this is most likely on the lines of "it's a metaphor for his power!"
