In order to use cathedrals correctly, we must understand:
- The tuning. The cathedrals are tuned very specifically and we must find the root note and the right tuning fork. A432 was commonly used before A440 but many tuning forks have been found and were neither. Each cathedral could theoretically have a different root frequency.
- The harmonics. The root note will not only be different, but the harmonics will vary depending on the shape and number of rooms. Finding those will be much harder.
- The reflective surfaces. This, along with the shape and number of rooms, determine the amount of amplification, therefore, dictating how loud we must play.
This along with removing the dampening they put on many of these old buildings. Removing the glass is essential. #frequency
