The ESV adds works salvation heresy into John 3:36 by changing "believeth not' (KJB) into "does not obey":
John 3:36 KJB
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.β
π―π
John 3:36 ESV
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.βπ°
By changing believeth not to obey not in John 3:36, the ESV:
π₯Insert works salvation of obey (obey means that someone complies with a command, which is a work) into Jesus' words
π₯Makes it harder for unbelievers to get saved
π₯And also causes confusion on what the word "obey" specifically means in John 3:36 by the ESV not stating what obey's meaning is for John 3:36. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).
