In 1 John 3:16, 1560 & 1599 Geneva Version editions remove the words "of God":
1611 KJB
Hereby perceiue we the loue of God, because he layd down his life for vs, and wee ought to lay downe our liues for the brethren. β

1560 Geneva
Hereby haue we perceiued loue, that he laid downe his life for vs: therefore we oght alfo to lay downe our lives for the brethen.βπ°π±
1599 Geneva
Hereby haue we perciued loue, that he laide downe his life for vs: therefore we ought alfo to lay downe our liues for the brethren.βπ°π±
By omitting "of God", 1560 & 1599 Geneva Version editions:
π₯Do not tell us in 1 John 3:16 about Who loved us+laid down his life for us
π₯Omits reference to Jesus is God the Son & Jesus/God laid down his life for us
π₯Turns "he" in "he laid down his life for us" into love instead of "he"=God, weakening 1 John 3:16 by making it about love instead of Jesus/God loved us & laid down his life for us
