Romans 10:9 is perverted by NIV and many modern versions into works-based Lordship salvation heresy. Basically, Lordship salvation is the unbiblical idea that someone has to MAKE Jesus as/into their Lord of their life in order to be saved. The below reasons expose Lordship salvation and its widespread promotion by modern versions.
By changing "the Lord Jesus" (KJB) into "Jesus is Lord" and/or "Jesus as Lord", the NIV 1978 and 2010 and many modern versions has the reader make Jesus as his Lord instead of believe on the Lord Jesus, as Jesus is has always been "the Lord" forever; thus, someone cannot do the work/effort to make Jesus Lord of their life to be saved. On speaking on who Jesus is "the second man is the Lord from heaven." (1 Corinthians 15:47). Modern versions remove "the Lord" so that they keep pushing Lordship salvationism while hiding the fact that Jesus always was and is the Lord God [God the Son] himself from heaven.
Romans 10:9 KJB That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. β

Romans 10:9 NIV says, "If you declare with your mouth, βJesus is Lord,β and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.βπ°
Romans 10:9 ESV Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.βπ°
Romans 10:9 NLT If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.βπ°
See Micah 5:2 1611 KJB
"Β² But thou Beth-leem Ephratah, though thou bee little among the thousands of Iudah, yet out of thee shall he come foorth vnto mee, that is to be ruler in Israel: whose goings foorth haue bene from of old, from euerlasting.β

Since Jesus is the Lord from heaven and is from everlasting, therefore Jesus always was, always is, always shalt be and always has been the Lord forever from eternity/is eternal. Therefore, someone cannot biblically, audibly, or physically make Jesus the Lord or their own Lord, which Lordship salvationism and all its modern versions proceeds to unbiblically do by promoting Lordship salvationism.
Furthermore, the NIV 1978, 2010, & all NIV editions, NLT, ESV, and more modern versions, by changing "the Lord Jesus" into "Jesus is Lord", allows the works trusters of Matthew 7:22 into heaven because the works trusters made Jesus their "Lord", just like works-based Lordship salvationism of making Jesus your life's Lord, and still did not get into Heaven because they did not BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 KJB).
Discard the NIV and all modern versions.
If you are trusting in Lord salvationism, or in making Jesus the Lord of your life (man's personal work) for salvation, then change your mind from trusting your works of Lordship salvationism to only believe the Lord Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again for salvation.
