Simonides' words on Sinaiticus continued: "First, I copied out the Old and New Testaments, then the Epistle of Barnabas, the first part of the pastoral writings of Hermas in capital letters (or uncial characters) in the style known in caligraphy as...(amphidexios)." (The Journal of Sacred Literature 1862-10: Vol 2 Issue 3, Page 248 Link)β οΈ
The next part in which Simonides' parchment supply declined, ironically proves that Codex Sinaiticus was written and composed in the monastery of Panteleemon at Mount Athos, Greece, because how did Simonides hand over Sinaiticus "at once" [which implies a very short amount of time] to the bookbinders of the monastery of Penteleemon to replace the book covers for his convenience, UNLESS Simonides was already writing Sinaiticus in that same monastery in Mount Athos Greece?
"The transcription of the remaining apostolic writings, [(Page 248)] however, I declined, because the supply of parchment ran short, and the severe loss which I sustained in the death of Benedict induced me to hand the work over at once to the bookbinders of the monastery, for the purpose of replacing the original covers, made of wood and covered with leather, which I had removed for convenienceβand when he had done so, I took it into my possession." (Page 248 Link to Page 249 Link)
Therefore we have shown that Simonides wrote Codex Sinaiticus in the monastery of Penteleemon at Mount Athos, Greece, in the year 1839.
