184-253AD: Even heretick Origen quoted 1 John 5:7's words in Greek: Τὰ δὲ τρία Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐστιν· οἱ γὰρ τρεῖς τὸ ἕν εἰσιν. (Origenis Selecta in Psalmos CXXII, Migne Graeca, PG 12.1633). English Translation: "the Lord our God is the three [persons], for the three are one." (Origenis Selecta in Psalmos CXXII). In his commentary on Psalm 122:2, Origen's quote of "οἱ γὰρ τρεῖς τὸ ἕν εἰσιν" ("for the three are one") is very close to 1 John 5:7's words "καὶ οὗτοι οἱ τρεῖς ἕν εἰσι·" ["and these three are one"] (Beza 1598 Textus Receptus). Also, Origen's quote of "Τὰ δὲ τρία Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐστιν·" (the Lord our God is the three [persons]) is directly related to 1 John 5:7's three persons of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: "Ὅτι τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες, ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὁ πατὴρ, ὁ λόγος, καὶ τὸ ἅγιον Πνεῦμα· καὶ οὗτοι οἱ τρεῖς ἕν εἰσι·" ("For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.")
