Two more errors of Jerome's Latin Vulgate:
π₯in 1 John 5:20, Jerome's Latin Vulgate removes "Iesus Christus". Also, in 1 John 5:20, Jerome's Latin Vulgate is not specific on and does not say who "vero Filio" ("the Son") is. The pure Old Latin Bible: "in eius Filio Jesu Christo, hic" (English: in his Son Jesus Christ. This...") vs Jerome's Latin Vulgate of 405 AD: "in vero Filio _ _ __ eius hic" (translated into English: in his Son really this) [βeiusβ in Latin means βreallyβ in English]. this) (Latin Vulgate LINK). Jerome's Latin Vulgate does not say that Jesus Christ is God the Son and is the Son of God the Father in 1 John 5:21
π₯Also, Jerome's Latin Vulgate falsely claims people are adulterating the word of God instead of saying people are corrupting the word of God. Old Latin Bible/Itala Bible: 2 Corinthians 2:17 Old Latin Bible: "Non enim, ut plerique, cauponamur sermonem Dei" (translated in English: For we are not, as many, which corrupt the word of God) VS 2 Corinthians 2:17 Latin Vulgate LINK: "non enim sumus sicut plurimi adulterantes verbum Dei" (in English: For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God).
A side note: Anti Modern Versions disagrees with Augustine and his beliefs, but will just mention that the Old Latin/Itala Bible is mentioned in the 400 by Augustine, who lived in the 400sAD, as keeing close to the words: In English "22. Now among translations themselves the Italian (Itala) is to be preferred to the others, for it keeps closer to the words without prejudice to clearness of expression." (De Doctrina Christiana 15.22 LINK).
(In Latin: "In ipsis autem interpretationibus Itala ceteris praeferatur; nam est verborum tenacior cum perspicuitate sententiae." (De Doctrina Christiana, Chapter 15.22 LINK).
(Disclaimer: Anti Modern Versions disagrees with Augustine's beliefs and disagrees with Augustine's promotion of the terrible Septuagint on the same chapter's page. However, it is worth mentioning Augustine's quote on the Itala/Old Latin Bible, because it provides clear evidence that the pure Old Latin Bible existed before, was translated long before, and was used by Christians long before Jerome created his counterfiet, corrupt Latin Vulgate).
And even corrupt Jerome himself directly mentioned the Old Latin Bible copies and called it "the Old Latin version" LINK & LINK
