Hades is a game based on Greek mythology, but it has its own take on the myths and characters. You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, and most of the first game takes place in the Underworld as you try to escape it. In Hades II, you play as Melinoë, Zagreus’ sister, as she takes on a different journey through the world of Greek mythology.
Across both games, you’ll meet more than 50 gods, goddesses, heroes, monsters and other mythological figures, each with their own personality, story and role in the games.
A lot of the characters are based on their original Greek myths, but Hades gives them new designs, relationships and personalities, so they can feel pretty different from how you might know them from mythology. You’ll come across really famous figures like Zeus, Athena and Hades, as well as more obscure ones that you might not have heard of before.
