"Exactly. The BTC network will become an additional protocol layer (like TCP/IP or HTTP) required to access the future β€œhigh ground” state of the internet, where online activity must be accompanied by BTC microtransactions.

The size of those microtransactions would be calibrated so they're negligible to humans operating at human speed, but prohibitively expensive to AI agents operating at machine scale.

That way, a person posting, messaging, emailing, or making access requests barely notices the cost. but AI agents (and the bad guys who use them for bad stuff) attempting to generate 10,000Γ— more activity suddenly faces a cost/constraint it simply can't overcome/sustain

It works because the Achilles heel of superintelligence (SI) is energy & compute costs, which is fundamentally what BTC represents (proof-of-work = proof of energy & compute).

SI can reason its way around any constraint except physics 😘

it can generate information almost for free, and the cost of its ops is always decreasing as inference gets forever cheaper. But it cannot and never will be able to generate scarce digitized energy/compute (i.e. bitcoin) for free.

Bitcoin introduces an externally verifiable physical cost into an otherwise economically unconstrained information environment, using digitized energy tokens that no individual, company, polity, or superintelligence can unilaterally control.

It is the perfect strategic counter to our biggest threat today.

Like proof-of-work enthusiasts hypothesized for decades preceding the widespread adoption of bitcoin, it changes the economics of spam, botnets, denial-of-service attacks, synthetic identities, and now autonomous agents, and AI slop.

The legacy internet can still exist. People who don’t want the BTC constrained version of the future internet can still slum it up on the legacy internet, where 99% of online activity will be nothing but machine-to-machine slop

The scarce internet will be the human high ground.

And none of the suits see this yet." - Lowery
