Many people believe America “saved” Japan from communism.
The truth is the exact opposite.
After the war, the American occupation freed thousands of hardcore communist prisoners and leftist activists that the Japanese government had locked up.
Many of these people went on to become the founders and leaders of Japan’s postwar communist movements.
America deliberately created a controlled two-party system, a CIA-backed capitalist regime on one side, and a loud but contained communist opposition on the other.
True Japanese conservatives have hated America ever since, because they know the U.S. is the one who injected communism into Japan in the first place.
