🇮🇷⚡️— IRGC Brigadier General Hossein Zarifi, commander of the Shahid Sajjad Operational Headquarters in Saravan, died on Wednesday, Sept 23, during several hours of armed clashes in the Jihadabad area of Saravan, southeastern Iran, near the Pakistan border.

➡️The IRGC confirmed Zarifi’s death during what it described as an operation against an armed group.

Another senior officer, Major Ahmad Zera'ati, the headquarters’ intelligence chief, also died in the confrontation.

Iranian authorities said five members of the armed group were killed and several others arrested, with weapons and ammunition recovered.

The Mobarizoun Popular Front has claimed responsibility for the clash and the deaths of the two senior IRGC officers. ISW assesses the group was likely responsible.
