Condemnation of Benjamin Netanyahu's action of entering the tunnels and excavations beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Buraq Wall
Netanyahu – against whom the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant – entered the tunnels and excavations beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Buraq Wall and made provocative statements about the so-called "Holy of Holies."
We consider this action a blatant assault on the identity and status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and a provocation of the sentiments of our Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nations.
Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety – with all its area, courtyards, prayer halls, walls, and gates – remains a purely Islamic mosque. The excavations, incursions, and attempts by the occupying regime to impose its biblical narrative cannot change the identity of the place or erase its features.
The excavations, displays, and provocative statements by the criminal enemy, along with its attempts to impose new facts in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, grant it no right to our sanctities. Al-Aqsa Mosque will remain a witness to the Arab and Islamic character of Jerusalem and to our Palestinian people's adherence to their right to their land and sanctities.
We call on our people to go to Al-Aqsa Mosque and maintain a constant presence (ribat) there in order to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa and protect it from attempts to change its status and identity.
We also call on the Arab and Islamic nation to assume its responsibility toward Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and to move against attempts to impose new facts on Islamic sanctities.
