โณ Activating a Single Gene Extended the Lifespan of Older Mice by 14%
Geneticists trained an AI model to estimate the biological age of cells using gene activity data from skin cells collected from 133 individuals, aged 1 to 96.
They then introduced copies of 95 different genes into aging cells in the lab, one at a time. The AI model helped identify which genes appeared to make the cells younger.

The most promising results came from SRSF1, a gene involved in mRNA splicing. Enhancing its activity reduced signs of cellular aging, including inflammation and the accumulation of damaged proteins.
To test whether the effect would carry over to living animals, the researchers packaged the gene into a viral vector and delivered it to older mice. The treated rodents showed a slower decline in physical health, reaching age-related frailty an average of 123 days later than untreated mice. Their median lifespan was also 14% longer than that of the control group.
โ It's still unclear how exactly SRSF1 pโฆ
