๐ญ๐ฐ Claude is cracking down on VPN users in Hong Kong
Some Hong Kong users are reporting that Claude accounts theyโve used through VPNs for months are suddenly being suspended for โsuspicious signals.โ
One user reportedly used NordVPN for around six months before getting flagged. Others are now trying Singapore VPN servers and foreign payment methods to maintain access.
The reason? Hong Kong still isnโt officially supported by Anthropic, while Singapore and Taiwan are.
Anthropic says Claude uses IP addresses and other signals to determine a userโs country or region for terms enforcement. The location check is mandatory and canโt be disabled.
So apparently, using Claude from an unsupported region isnโt just a matter of picking a VPN server anymore. Anthropic appears to be getting much better at detecting it.
