๐Ÿค– In Korea, a Robot Welder Is Already Working at Shipyards

They say AI will replace programmers, but certainly not welders. Korean startup Diden Robotics has disproved that assumption by releasing a four-legged robot welder called Diden Spider. It was built specifically for shipyard workโ€”the company now has contracts with two Korean shipbuilders and one European customer.

The "spider robot" weighs 45 kg and carries 30 kg of payload, walks on steel walls and ceilings using magnetic feet, nimbly climbs over steel beams, and squeezes through narrow access holes.

๐Ÿ” The startup was founded in March 2024 by four graduates of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. In 2026, the company made the Forbes Asia "100 to Watch" list, appeared in the opening videos of Nvidia GTC and Computex, and was invited by Amazon as the only Korean startup to attend MARS 2026, a robotics and AI conference.

The robot can already inspect the quality of welding seams, and in the future the company wโ€ฆ
